Burnout… to Breakthrough!
Virtual and In-Person Therapy for Chicago Professional Women looking to reignite the spark, reclaim the joy and rev up that MOJO.
“It’s often when things feel just too much or like they’re falling apart that we have this incredible opportunity to grow and shift… These moments can offer up some of our most profound transformations and rise-from-the-ashes experiences.”
- Kama Joy Schulte, MA, LCPC, ATR-BC
You’re just so tired… exhausted, really.
All the things on your plate and the whirl of things that you’re juggling… Wow! You’re crushin’ it and doing an awe inspiring job. On the outside you look like you have it all together with your career, relationships, family, your health… when on the inside it’s not like that at all.
You’re consumed with anxiety from the over-thinking, over-analyzing, over-delivering, and over-performing - and holy sh*t… It’s exhausting.
✹✹✹✹
There’s no time for you. You’re not tapping into your fire. There are no boundaries in sight. (You're that quintessential “yes” woman, after all). And honestly, you’re terrified to actually ask for what you need OR –dream upon dream– ask to do less.
Because, when you get down to it, the over-thinking, over-delivering and over-performing are how you help yourself feel secure, right? In reality, though, it just feels f*cking miserable.
✹✹✹✹
That inner child part of you is craving a sense of safety and peace so that you can finally let go of the hustle and over-performing.
That inner child part of you is missing the carefree zest, that playfulness, that creativity, and that rest.
What this looks like on the day-to-day:
→ You don’t remember the last time you didn’t stay up until midnight, anxious and rushing, trying to fit it all in.
→ Last week, you over-committed to five work projects and now the panic is setting in.
→ The last seven conversations you had with your friends and fam are a blur because you were in a head-panic… thinking your way through your to-do list.
→ Mornings wake you up with heart-pounding anxiety, that weird pit in your gut, and a looming doom. It feels like a state of blah mixed with panic, and to be honest, you haven’t even opened your eyes yet.
→ The weekends don’t feel like weekends anymore, they’re just days to “catch up” OR completely check out with a solid Netflix or Hulu binge.
And then you pause for a moment and think, “Holy sh*t… is this how it’s supposed to be? Is this all there is? Feeling burnt out, stressed, no rest or calm in sight? The answer??
A solid, “Nope! It absolutely doesn’t need to feel this way!”
Tapping into your fire.
So, what if after just a few sessions of solution-focused therapy, done from your desk, your car, your office, or even your balcony…you start to see the transformation happening?
Imagine you start to feel more whole, more you, and more ok being your authentic self. And by the way, WTF does any of that even mean?
Let me paint this sparkly picture for you:
→ It means, saying “no” like a badass, and wow did that just open up some time and energy for some hot yoga, a massage, a DIVVY along the Lakefront, and some snuggle time with your pup.
→ It means, soothing anxiety easily and finding peace with the things ahead of you (and behind you).
→ It means, saying what you need from your boss and your new role— So that the new role is actually what you signed up for— instead of being everyone else’s dumping ground.
→ Your relationships start to feel easier (or harder), but in a good way. Because, you’re actually saying what you want, what you liked, what you didn’t like, and what you need from them.
→ The boundaries you’re putting in place are doing a lot of the work for you - so you don’t have to.
→ Going to the gym, meal prepping, getting some yoga in… This new way of being is actually a thing now, and you’re loving it.
…I mean, I could keep going, but I'll stop here.
The best part? There’s more time for quiet, rest, curiosity and joy back in your life… in your relationships, your career, your health, and YOU. You’re actually enjoying the life and success you’ve been working so hard to create! And that feels f*cking fantastic. Now THAT is a deep sigh of revitalization… and relief!
Why work with me as your burnout-to-breakthrough guru?
Well, I’m that therapist that brings a soothing, calming, insightful and compassionate presence while simultaneously serving up a gentle, but REAL, no B.S. approach. I’m straightforward and I’ll challenge you to bring new methods and changes into your life. All this, so you can finally find rest, feel calm, and tap into parts of you that you haven’t tapped into in a very long time.
I’m also a woman that has gone through a few crash-and-burns, myself. I know, all too well, what it is to lose the juice for something, to sift through the rubble of a once beloved relationship or job, and give myself a massive “reframe” and spectacular reboot.
Loss and burnout can offer up an incredible opportunity to grow and shift… leading to some of the most profound transformations and rise-from-the-ashes moments of our lives.
I know what it's like to be in the “blah,” the “meh,” and the “I’m-so-over-it” of burnout, and how to breathe some much-needed-life back into it all.
My style? If you haven’t picked up on this by now, I am all about the Zen, the solutions, the methods, the door-opening-conversations, and the light-bulb moments that help you finally transform your life.

Stress, Anxiety, Burnout, and Imposter Syndrome: Understanding the differences.
Stress, anxiety, burnout, and imposter syndrome all stem from high-pressure environments and can lead to significant emotional and physical exhaustion, affecting your overall well-being.
Stress is what happens when you’re juggling too much at once, leaving you exhausted and irritable. Anxiety kicks in when those worries about the future just won't stop, making it hard to stop the thought spiral and relax. Burnout is that deep, soul-crushing exhaustion from being overworked for too long. And Imposter Syndrome? That's when you feel like a fraud despite your success.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE SPECIFICS:
STRESS
Stress often comes from juggling multiple roles and responsibilities. It's your body's reaction to demands and pressures, which can be short-term (e.g. like meeting a deadline) or it can be chronic (i.e. constant workload).
What it is: Stress is a response to external pressures (i.e. work demands, personal challenges) affecting both mind and body.
Symptoms: Headaches, fatigue, irritability.
ANXIETY
Anxiety takes stress a step further, becoming a constant worry about future events or performance. It's that nagging feeling that keeps you up at night, causing restlessness and tension even when things are seemingly okay.
What it is: Anxiety is a reaction to perceived future threats, often manifesting as excessive worry.
Symptoms: Restlessness, muscle tension, difficulty concentrating, spinning thoughts, pit in your stomach, heaviness in your chest.
BURNOUT
Burnout is the result of prolonged stress and anxiety. It’s the overwhelming exhaustion and sense of detachment from your work or life circumstances. If you find yourself feeling unmotivated, cynical, and lacking a sense of accomplishment, you might be experiencing burnout.
What it is: Burnout results from prolonged stress, particularly in professional settings and overwhelming life circumstances, leading to exhaustion.
Symptoms: Emotional, physical, and mental fatigue, detachment.
IMPOSTER SYNDROME
Imposter syndrome is that nagging feeling that you’re not as competent as others think you are, even though you’ve got the accomplishments to prove otherwise. It often means doubting your success and fearing that you’ll be exposed as a fraud. Despite your hard work and achievements, you might feel like you don’t deserve your success and worry about being "found out." Recognizing this feeling is the first step to overcoming it and embracing your true value and capabilities.
What it is: Imposter syndrome is feeling like a fraud despite evident success. Spoiler alert... It's common among high-achieving women.
Symptoms: Self-doubt, fear of failure, overworking, can lead to perfectionism.

First & foremost, let’s just name it… Anxiety is a pain! Right?! It gets in the way of you relaxing, enjoying your friends, your career, and YOUR LIFE!
In the therapy space, anxiety gets described as… “Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or fear about an event or situation,” according to the Department of Health and Human Services.
Bottom Line: Anxiety is a natural part of life and actually serves a very important purpose. We are wired to survey our environment for threats. Think primitive… We see a tiger, adrenaline kicks in. We seek protection & safety. It’s what has kept us alive as a species. When our brains detect a threat, we often go into Fight-Flight-Freeze, right?!
“Fight - Flight - Freeze” is our Sympathetic Nervous System activating. It’s our brain’s attempt to protect us and is our brain’s attempt to keep us alive. We either fight the threat, flee the threat or “play dead” so that the threat will retreat. When we think TIGER, the fight-flight-freeze response makes more sense, given that the threat of a tiger is real.
Anxiety serves another purpose, as well — it helps you strive for more. Anxiety motivates you to study harder for an exam. It propels you to stay attentive to a challenging situation at work. It drives you to get those extra training runs in for that marathon. It compels you to “do the work” in a valued relationship.
But, if Anxiety begins to interfere with your daily life, it can be problematic. If it’s getting in the way of you speaking up in an important meeting, answering your professor’s questions in your marketing class, or initiating a difficult convo with a friend or your boo… — if it’s getting in the way of you enjoying your life -- it may be a good time to reach out for support.
